Cue Karl Malden from the old American Express ads: You've built a new version of your operating system, after the last one was a flop. You have people excited that the technology will be better, but now you have to convince all those Windows XP users to upgrade to Windows 7. What will you do? What...will...you...do?
That's a definite head-scratcher. The moral of the Vista story was, "Microsoft can't strongarm IT departments into doing anything Microsoft may want." On the other hand, after the launch of Windows 7, Microsoft needs to get adoption of the new OS moving at a fast clip.
Clearly, this promises to be one of the most interesting tech industry stories this year.
