Great post! I agree that social media are supplementary to many existing PM functions: in addition to your point on product feedback, using social media can also be used for building a community around what we do. While it is great for getting product or company feedback, social media lends itself to participation in relevant industry dialog. This creates another touch point for a two-way information flow between PMs and their industry - which is quite valuable. Customer visits and conferences aren't going away, but it is great to have another method to reach out to the market.
